A man sustained injuries last weekend after being accused of expressing his frustration on a malfunctioning slot machine at a gaming venue in Oklahoma.
George Smith allegedly wrecked the slot machine at the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort in Shawnee, Okla. Consequently, he received a lifetime ban from the casino, as reported by the Oklahoma TV station KWTV.
The report noted that Smith was expected to win around $600K from the slot, but ended up receiving no payout because of the malfunction.
He was admitted to the hospital following the frustrating event.
"Throwing my body into the machine and all that stuff, I caused a lot of muscle and tissue damage to my kidneys and stuff,” Smith revealed. No word was released on his updated medical condition.
A clip of the event became widely popular, and onlookers were heard saying, “Return his money,” according to KWTV.
“It got up to like $600,000 and the machine just shut down,” Smith recalled. “Everybody was like ‘Oh that’s messed up.’”
A casino staff member informed him that he would not be receiving a payout.
When approached for a comment by KWTV, the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, which manages the casino, replied in a statement, “We cannot comment on this issue due to an ongoing criminal investigation related to the conduct shown in videos that have appeared online.”
The tribal police of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation were looking into the incident. As of Sunday, no charges had been brought against Smith.
The tribal police did not provide an estimate of the damage to the slot machine.
On Sunday morning, a man was apprehended at Bally’s Twin River Lincoln Casino Resort in Rhode Island for supposedly damaging a video lottery machine located on the gaming floor.
Lucas Gomes, 23, from Holliston, Mass., was arrested at 3:35 a.m., as reported by the Newport Dispatch, a regional news source. The report noted that he faced a charge of vandalism/malicious property damage.
Authorities did not supply an assessment of the damage.
The Rhode Island State Police subsequently released Gomes. His case was handed over to local authorities.
